Though a lot depends on the college profile you are getting admission in. As even a branch like piping engineering from an institute like IIT can outclass other better streams from low profile colleges.

Can't say too much without seeing the course. Ideally if you're doing from IIT they would have a good course design. Piping would include Safety Studies like HAZOP, WHAZAN and other Audit methodology. Wish you the best for your career. Remember, your Career is a resultant of your knowledge combined

It is better to do M.Tech in Mechanical or machine design rather than doing Piping engineering
