What are the eligibility criteria to appear for Indian engineering services examination?

i am doing b.tect from guru ghansidas university in industrial and production engg.\nand am intrested in indian engg services but my friend say that this exam i not ment for my branch is that true

Indian engineering sevices conduct exams based on main core branch CIVIL ENGINEERING,MECHANICAL ENGINEERING,ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING and ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING. Your engineering branch should be subbranch of mechanical engg. so if syllabus of your branch covers mechanical engg.
