My son is in the 6th standard. I am contemplating O level for him from the 7th. Can anyone tell me if the level of difficulty is the same/less/more in terms of stress level on the child.

If u suddenly give up your attention, sure stress level for him will go higher. So don't give up your attention towards him completely.
