It depends upon institute to institute such as Mumbai University need that to pursue M.Sc. Mathematics/ Statistics, you should have studied B.Sc./B.A. with at least 5 papers in mathemaitcs whereas University of Madras requires graduation with mathemaitcs/statistics as a subject.
