do cat aspirants froma an engineering background have a slight edge over other aspirants?and why is that students after getting their engineering degree seek to attain a degree in management ? why do they shift from their technical line and shift towards management field?

The reasons may be money motivation, better career prospects, self employment motive, social status and power, easier hop from middle management cadre to top management cadre, interest in business and so on. The government is the loser if you are not in a self financing engineering institution.
