Hi,
UPSC exams are very tough and require a lot of hard work and dedication. It is not so that you will require a safe career as a back support but yes to be eligible for the Civil Services, you will require to be a graduate degree holder from a recognized University.

no i think its not needed to do so, if you are confident enough then go for it....... if you are not then choose anyone of the interested field of your interest.....
