Ghanshyam, as you know there are two stages in IAS Examination one is prelim and another is main. In prelim as the pattern has changed candidates will have to appear in two objective-type papers having special emphasis on testing their aptitude for civil services as well as on ethical and moral dimension of decision-making. so be more focused on areas like general knowledge, which you can increase by reading News papers and books like competition success review, also focus on the services you want to get as you want to get into administrative services so be updated about the happenings in Administrative services. In Final you have to focus on both general studies and two optional subjects of your choice. so while preparing for final you should choose those two optional subjects which you feel comfortable with and be clear about the fundamentals of these subjects. apart from these you can also consult the books available in in market pertaining to your optional subjects.

If you are not interested in taking coaching you can get study material for IAS from a conventional book store which sell study materials for other entrances like bank p.o etc.

The best way to prepare is by taking coaching classes. But there are few books that can help you in your preparation such as Manorama Year Book, CSR etc.
