1. Educational Qualification
To be eligible for becoming an IPS officer the candidate must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken ever

Hi Sridhar, as per your query I would say, the UPSC conducts civil services examination every year in the month of May and June and its main exam in the month of December. The notification for this exam comes out in the month of January end.

You need to sit for the UPSC prelims exam, clear the same and then come in merit in the Mains and thereafter excel in the interview. This will bring you in the overall merit list and you will be able to select. Lot of hard work and studies are required for this along with practice to give the exam.

You need to clear IAS/ UPSC exam for this. And the criteria for siting in this exam is graduation.
So 1st u need to do graduation.
