To become an IAS, you have to appear for Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC. This is one of the toughest exam. you need lot of dedication for this For this, you should have completed minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years There is 3 stages in UPSC Civil Services exam: 1. Aptitude Test (Earlier there was prelims) 2. Main 3. Interview New Civil Services aptitude will test the aptitude of the candidate rather than memory testing, according to officials. The government announced the outline of the new Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) and changes in the General Studies paper. Each year 500000 applicants apply for Civil Services Examination (Preliminary). The Union Public service commission (UPSC) will make available the detailed syllabus soon. In new Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), the preliminary exam will be replaced by a General Studies paper and there is no Optional Paper. From 2011, new civil services exam pattern will be CSAT, main exam and interview. on May 24th, 2010 UPSC has a common application form for all their applications. Applicants for the civil services exam have to fill this form that comes with an information brochure. you can get it from Head PO Notification for CSAT will be on Feb 09
