have a government job...had two years of b.tech. Remaining while joining..completed on eol granted by company

i was studying btech thru lateral entry,after 2nd year got govt. Job on diploma basis,remaining two years completed on eol granted by company bt college asked for medical to complete attendence and i gave altho during that time i was working in company.is it illegal.shud i tell my college authority
