There are 30 paper codes or subjects in GATE 2026 itself and as per current official the latest updates also, no new paper codes or totally new subjects have been added to GATE 2026. The most recent ones were in the past years when papers such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Environmental Science & Engineering (ES), and Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM) were introduced.

Candidates will get only one scribble pad at a time. They must write their name and registration number before using it. If the rough sheet gets filled, then they can ask for another one scribble pad after returning the previous one to the invigilator. After the exam concludes, candidates must return the scribble pad to the invigilator.
