HELLO sir/ ma'm, I wish to apply for civil service exam for IPS. when are the applications invited, & how should i select optional subjects

i did BSc statistics this year,,,, & planning 2apply for IPS.... i have no idea as what to study for mains,,,, CSAT will not be a problem ,, i can prepare myself,,,, but i'l welcom the suggestions for main exam where in i shud prepare 2diferent subjects,,,,, & i have not yet started...:)

Details will appear in the employment news as well as http://www.upsc.gov.in/ Current Affairs paper may be compulsory. Those papers you feel comfortable for preparation as well as for examination, preferably your graduation subjects shall be selected.
