Hey i am btech from electronics and comunication and want to pursue my career in merchant navy and want to know about ETO post.

I am b.tech from electronics and communication and want to join merchant navy as ETO officer.Please provide how is this possible and i have heard that there is no promotion in rank as ETO officer and also that there is not much need of ETO officer and that this post is not worth.please guide. thanks
