Acton is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was established in 1990, as per the Act 31 of 1990 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as a Teaching-cum-affiliating University. The University has been named after the Tamil poet literate/Prof. P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897) the renowned writer
