How are the BS-MS placements at IISER Kolkata?

IISER Kolkata OBC cutoff 2025 for admission to the BS + MS course across multiple specialisations was 891 under the AI quota. For the B.S. in Computational and Data Sciences + M.S. in Computational and Data Sciences specialisation, the first-round closing rank stood at 417. According to IISER Kolkata NIRF report 2024, the median package offered during UG 5-year placements 2023 stood at INR 7 LPA. Further, a total of 11 students were placed and 83 students opted for higher studies out of total 169 students during IISER Kolkata UG 5-year placements 2023. Earlier, NIRF report 2023 is available.

As per the NIRF report 2023, a total of 39 out of 199 BSc students were placed during placements 2022. The median package offered to BSc students was INR 7 LPA during placements 2022.

IISER Kolkata offers admission to courses based on entrance exam. Candidates who have received the provisional KVPY fellowship award are eligible to apply for admissions. Students are admitted to the BS-MS Dual Degree programme through the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) via the IISER Aptitude Test, and JEE Advanced scores. On the other hand, IISER Kolkata conducts an interview round to shortlist candidates for various programmes (MS in Space Physics, I-PhD, and post-doctoral research).
