IIT Kanpur is one of the well reputed institutions in India and one of the old IITs. So it attracts lots of good companies for placements and the statistics are pretty good as such.
For 2016, for Aerospace, 19 students registered for placements out of which 15 were placed (BE). The percentage of students placed was 78.94 percent as such.
The packages offered for Aerospace students were in the range between 5 LPA to 16.5 LPA. The average package was between 6 - 7 LPA (approx). Aerospace here has nearly 50+ members and there is a huge competition in them for branch change. However, if you are particular with the field then, it is more advisable to opt of IIT, Kanpur(the reason being that they have much better faculty, their own air strip and best laboratories in India. The placements from aerospace engineering are exceptional when it is compared to all other colleges of India. The southern part of India has more scope due to the largest industrial and aeronautical friendly environment.
For placements, various multinational and renowned aerospace global and national corporates visit every year.Though the scope is very large, still the branch is struggling to find its place and trying to level upto branches like CSE, ECE and IT.
