UPES is known throughout the country for its petroleum engineering programme, which is by far the best in the country. The placements are really good and there are students who are doing really well after petroleum engineering from UPES. Last I checked, their placement was standing at 92%. Also, they have QS 5 stars for employability, which tells their placements are the best.

Here are 2 branches for Petroleum, one is UPSTREAM and second is DOWNSTREAM (Gas). Placements for both the branches are nearly equal and turned out to be excellent every time. The average package from GAS is approximately 3.56 lacs to 6.56 or 6.79 lacs per annum. The highest package from gas is around 18 lacs. The top recruiters are Schlumberger Asia Services Ltd. , Reliance Industries Limited, ONGC, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, QuEST Global Engineering, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited etc.
