How are the placements of B.Tech in Automobile Engineering from MIT Manipal?

Companies like Hero, Tata, Mercedes, Toyota come for recruiting students of Automobile engineering. 50% of the students opting for automobile engineering go for further studies. Some students with higher gpa and other good records get placed in core companies. Many get placed in IT companies. Even many of the bright students get placed in IT. There could many reasons : There are many many companies recruiting from MIT Manipal but the problem is what to choose, core company or IT company? First of all take this very seriously, the life of an engineer at a production company is tough. I do not mean to scare you, but it is true, unfortunately. Its not like at the IT companies where you can get a lot of time and also a good city. However you will become a tough person gradually. So to answer the question that some of you guys have asked Which to prefer: IT company or core company? If you want to join a core company for the money, youll be surprised! An IT company will give you a similar payout after 3-4 years and would also give you lot of options to witch companies and also other benefits. I suggest you join a core company if and only if you actually like Mechanical or automobile engineering! Else, you'll end up frustrated. Another reason you will join the core company is because you may not like sitting continuously for 8 hours. The Core experience helps a lot for MS admissions to a good university abroad and getting a research project / research assistant position under a professor and getting a job after MS. They love it if you have any industry experience. The underline however is that the project should be related to your specialization during your Masters. These points are all my personal experience, there may be some different experience with other people. Manipal is good private university it will show in the brochure the number of mechanical and automobile companies but the placement percentage change for sure in the college just because it depend upon the student if the student is fittest in the corporate world they will get placement for sure , the companies shown are: like Daimler,Hero,Toyota etc visit the campus. . So college does all its work and next work comes to the students if they are really good at there work the companies will recruit them. Do no rely on my answer but always ask more and more number of students which have any of experience related to the university and always ask the one which are already studying in the college and have the full knowledge and experience about the reality that which company arrive what profile it offer for Graduates and Post graduates and what package it offers and what is the total percentage from the college get selected as a whole and if any student remains unplaced what are the procedure the college follows , do the college help in next year to sit the last year unplaced student . than take admission in the college
