See, Biotechnology is a thriving branch of Engineering, it is still under development. Every day new advances are coming up. It will take some time for it to settle. The placements stats may not compete with other branches but they are satisfactory. The IIT Guwahati alumni have various job opportunities in the chemical manufacturing, pharma companies, biotech corporations, environment-related businesses, and R&D. IIT Guwahati is indeed a prestigious institute of higher education producing worthy students with excellent career growth and universal recognition. Who would not want the best candidates for their company? Some of the best recruiters visit IIT Guwahati during the placement season. Here are some names: Biocon, IFGL Bioceramics Limited, Orbees medical, Invitrogen, GlaxoSmithKline, Reliance life sciences, CTS life sciences etc. Around 67% people get jobs during the on-campus placement. The average package goes around 6 lac per annum in core jobs but that depends on the individual's caliber and, so the highest package does.

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati Placement provided with reputed companies, offering average salary package of 15 LPA for B.Tech courses. After considering the placement report of 2016 for IIT, Guwahati in biotechnology engineering branch, out of the 40 students who enrolled for placements, 32 got placed. Some core companies this visit like Biocon, Narayan Cadillac, Sun Pharma, Ranbaxy, Brenntag Industries, etc. But gave away very few offers, Also these placements were mostly considering Business Intelligence, data analytics, banking finance, marketing and other such companies due to the lack of ample of core biotechnology companies visiting the campus and thus rolled out IT based roles. IIT, Guwahati has dedicated placement and training cell which is huge but they are mostly IT companies with big brand recognition. Students usually take up Masters in the same college to increase the chances of getting into core biotech company. Where Placements are phenomenal. The average package was 5 LPA and the highest was 11 LPA and minimum offered range was 4.5 LPA.

IITs are the premier engineering institutes. IIT-Guwahati is one of the old IITs and lakhs of students try to get admission here every year. According to the National Institute Ranking Framework, IIT-Guwahati ranks 7th among all engineering colleges in India which is a pretty good rank. Bio-technology Engineering at IIT-Guwahati is pretty good. For Biotechnology Engineering, in 2015 out of 38 students who applied to placements from Biotechnology department, 21 students were placed meaning 55 percent placement for Biotechnology which is an okayish impressive number. The average salary was around 6 LPA and the maximum salary was around 10 LPA. All these figures suggest pretty good placements at IIT-Guwahati. Being an IITian, you are entitled to a lot of facilities which most colleges aren't able to provide. IIT, Guwahati is a well established and a renowned institution known for its excellent and effortless work. The biotechnology is a field full of research and limitless possibilities one need to see when choosing the career. The biotechnology can be seen as a modern and a complete fusion of bio and techno which is serving to the best to achieve a balanced and happy society which hides a thorough research and hard work behind it. When it comes to placement, the placements are quite good in average though the institute stills lack behind in terms of the high pay scale for the undergraduate. While coming to placement stats the average package is about Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs and the highest package is around Rs16 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs per annum. Most of the people get indulge in research activities and private clinic setups and perform well in that. Being the students of the premier institute, students get placed in big corporates and global corporations but the most important factor which works is their self and whole hearted dedication. Considering the placement report of 2017 for IIT, Guwahati in biotechnology branch, out of the 38 students that enrolled for placements, 27 got placed. But these placements were mostly for data analytics, banking, marketing and other such companies due to the lack of core biotechnology companies visiting the campus. IIT, Guwahati has dedicated placement and training cell which manages to attract a lot of companies but they are mostly IT companies. So students who want to stay in the field of biotechnology, usually take up masters in the same college to increase the chances of getting into core biotech company. The others who enrolled for placements in the year 2017 had an average placement package of Rs 9.8 lakhs in some or the other IT firms, provided you have some knowledge in the respective field. This brings the total batch placement percentage of IIT, Guwahati biotech branch in 2017 to 80%, with the highest placement package being Rs 25 lakhs. I hope this answers your question.
