    Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee is one of the best government colleges in India and it ranks in top 5 colleges of India.
    Placements of B.Tech in biotechnology from IIT-Roorkee is very good as many of the core companies related to biotechnology comes to the placements.
    Biotechnology department in IIT-Roorkee is known for its research in the various field and it publishes research paper every year.

    Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary branch of science which is favorite among youngsters as it is providing ample opportunities for those who want to explore the new and advanced frontiers of science. It does not refer to a specific industry or job.     Biotechnology branch in India is progressing at a really slow rate due to the lack of investment in the field, costly lab inputs and the scarcity of core companies in India in the particular field.
    Although being in IIT does not save you from the above-mentioned problem but it does help you a lot by placing you in some or the other IT company, marketing firm, banking job with an average placement of Rs 8 lakh or Rs 4 lakhs even if you don't end up in a core company.

    Hello, first of all, you must know that Bio Technology branch is a more research oriented branch. If you are really interested in the field after a B.Tech degree, you can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs, and institutions in India. However, most Indian students tend to go abroad to pursue their masters or doctorate studies in biotechnology and allied fields. Talking about on-campus placements, since the number of job openings is very less in biotechnology, the number of companies coming for placements will be very less.     Biotechnology is though relatively a new branch and finding its scope to get implemented as much as it can.
    Though the widespread application is very large and the great fusion of biology and technology is serving to many people hence seeking global earnings.
    When it comes to placements IIT, Roorkee gets a decent but improvable stats. The average placement in the respective branch is Rs 8 lakhs and the highest is around Rs 20 lakhs.
