Hey,
First of all, B.Tech in Biological Sciences and Bio-Engineering is not a core branch. So, don't expect a pay scale similar to that of other core branches like CSE, ECE and mechanical.
With this field, you will not be eligible to take GATE exam.
You will be getting this branch when your rank does not fall under the core branch rank. Even if you don't like biology, you will enjoy pursuing Biological Science and Bio-Engineering here at IIT-Kanpur.

Established in 2001, the relatively new Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) strives to implement a multidisciplinary research and teaching program in modern biology and bioengineering. The department allows undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate programs (M.Tech and Ph.D.). The branch is new whereas there are branches which are about 100 years old.
