How are the placements of B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from MIT Manipal?

It was established in 1969 and is one of the oldest engineering branches in Manipal and has its reputation. I can say that faculty is not 100% best, not more than 4 to 5 professors are good with their subjects. Professors are really good and are ready to help you. The course structure is pretty good and equivalent to BITS (HOD used to be from BITS). Excellent chemical engineering laboratories - Mass Transfer, Heat Transfer and a State of the art Process Control lab. The computer lab equipped with all the engineering software - CAD, Aspen, Matlab. Practice School Policy. Students can do their final year projects outside the institution like - CSIR labs, Honeywell etc., Coming to the important section placements if your goal is to get a job in service/IT industry then it's not a big deal. MIT doesn't have any sustainable relations with process industries so it's a challenge to find core chemical industries on the placement list. To my knowledge, these are the companies I've seen during my 4 years at Manipal:- Jindal Steels, Grasim textiles, Reliance, Mangalore refinery recruited students having 8 and above CGPA.

Placements at Manipal are around 90-100% and approximately all the CSE and IT graduates get placed, but it is not like that all other branches do not get the placements. They too get good placements, but the number of companies arriving according to the branch are few, offer the job to the candidate who can be deemed fit as per the company environment. Chemical engineering is a good branch and there are companies like Reliance, ABB, L&T, HUL, Jindal Steels, Vedanta, BASF, MCF and Michelin India which come and offer the placements to the students of respective branch and not only these companies, but some other companies also require chemical engineers and offer placements or you can also opt for GATE and then enter in a PSU which will be one of the best options for you. Otherwise, if you need to know the reality of the placements ask any of the final year students or the recently passed students then you will know the actual scenario about the university placements because no one else can know the reality of the college until and unless one has gone through it.
