It was established in 1969 and is one of the oldest engineering branches in Manipal and has its reputation.
I can say that faculty is not 100% best, not more than 4 to 5 professors are good with their subjects. Professors are really good and are ready to help you. The course structure is pretty good and equivalent to BITS (HOD used to be from BITS).
Excellent chemical engineering laboratories - Mass Transfer, Heat Transfer and a State of the art Process Control lab. The computer lab equipped with all the engineering software - CAD, Aspen, Matlab.

Placements at Manipal are around 90-100% and approximately all the CSE and IT graduates get placed, but it is not like that all other branches do not get the placements. They too get good placements, but the number of companies arriving according to the branch are few, offer the job to the candidate who can be deemed fit as per the company environment.
Chemical engineering is a good branch and there are companies like Reliance, ABB, L&T, HUL, Jindal Steels, Vedanta, BASF, MCF and Michelin India which come and offer the placements to the students of respective branch and not only these companies, but some other companies also require che...more
