    Hello, the placements of civil are not bad at all at IIT, Kharagpur because of the fact that there are so many students who get placed in non-core companies. Even then, considering the placement of civil at other premier institutes also, IIT Kharagpur is easily at par or even slightly better than them.

    The placements from B.Tech's civil branch are nice, though IIT Guwahati has the best civil department, but the Kharagpur branch is also exceptional.
    The students mostly got interned with many companies getting a huge learning experience from construction sites in their 3rd or 4th semester.
    Talking about placement statistics, the highest placement has gone upto 29 lakhs per annum this recruitment season whereas, the average being from 14 lakhs per annum in reputed companies.
    Although, the companies coming for recruitment having non civil structure also allow civil students to be a part of their interview and select many of them.

    IIT-Kharagpur has managed to attract the best of the companies in Indian market including the (core ones) in civil, IT, marketing, banking and computer science companies.
