Civil engineering in VIT is a good option. Faculties are decent and the opportunities of projects are also as per standards of good engineering colleges. However, the problem with civil engineering is that it is literally a dying field. Don't ever anticipate that after 3-4 years, there will be any progress in this field because no matter how many infrastructural projects come up, the intake of civil engineers in core jobs will be same. The civil department has the worst placement record in VIT University, with that being said only 30 to 40% students actually get placed.
Larsen and Turbo is the biggest recruiter for civil department but you need to be at least in the top 40 students of your batch to be eligible for placement in the same.
