    Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is one of the top IITs of the country. Placement in each branch is excellent. Last year highest package offered in civil engineering is 16 lakhs per annum and lowest was Rs 4.2 lakhs . Average package is around Rs 9 lakhs per annum which is very good.     Greetings,
    I would like to mention that, IIT, Madras is known as one of the best colleges for civil engineering.
    There are awesome packages offered in placements for civil engineering at IIT, Madras. Almost 95% ratio is seen every year. The scope of civil branch is quite good.
    The minimum.package offered is Rs 4 to Rs 5. Average package of civil engineering at IIT, Madras is around Rs 8 to Rs 9 lakhs per annum and has gone up to around Rs 17 LPA.
    Many multinational companies visit here and offer good packages to Civil Engineers.

    Placements are not too good in civil as the jobs are pretty less compared to the number of students graduating every year. That's why even in premier institutes like IITs, NITs and BITS you will see civil lagging as compared to other departments. The entire civil sector is on a slow growth path as of now so can't blame any particular college for low placements.
    For year 2016 for UG, 51 students registered for placements from civil department out of which 41 students were placed. The packages offered to civil students varied from Rs 4.8 LPA to Rs 21 LPA. The average package would be around Rs 6 LPA (approx). Many students opted for place

For IIT Madras summer internships, a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Working Professionals are not eligible to apply for internships
  • Students must pursue the IITM BSc Degree without other commitments (on-campus degree or full-time job)
  • Students will have to fulfill training requirements before they apply for internships.
  • Students should have completed 4 courses + 2 course projects at the Diploma level.
  • Students will be allowed to apply once they complete at least one Diploma course.
  • Non-refundable Registration fees of INR 1,800 (incl GST) must be submitted
