    IIT, Kharagpur being among top 5 engineering colleges in India, is the place which can ensure you best of the placements in India. Now regarding your question, just a B.Tech or an undergraduate course in energy engineering is not going to fetch you a placement package of above Rs 6 lakhs and not even any core company unless you have a very impressive profile.
    What you need to do now is to do M.Tech in the same energy engineering branch in the same college or one of your choice which is going to ensure placement in a core company and a placement package of not less than Rs 20 lakhs. This is because not many students pursue energy engine

    Energy engineering is nowadays getting popular due to its wide application in energy resources and plants.
    Though the branch contains one of the most precise information and great concerns to deal with the energy resources present in the earth.
    When it comes to placements it is around Rs 10 lakhs average and one can achieve an average placement very easily. When it comes to the highest package it is around Rs 22 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs which is not exceptional but rare as obvious for a non-core stream.
