How are the placements of B.Tech in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur?

Manufacturing science is the course of mechanical engineering. It is not a separate branch but is the field of science concerned with the concept behind the manufacturing process of any industry. Mechanical engineering is concerned with the manufacturing and design, so the difference between these two fields is not sparking but some students want to close this gap by choosing some subject like thermodynamics, fluid mechanic, etc. As far as the placement scenario is concerned, it is not so good from the two areas but it depends on the students that how much deep practical knowledge he has in his filed and how much he can expect from the recruiter. Many companies are recruiting ME student rather than MF student mostly whose job is related to manufacturing. The most prominent reason is that unawarenes of the course and many companies' HR are not aware about this course so they sufer. On the other note, package ranging from 6 Lacs to 10 Lacs is offered to the students of the mechanical department with core and support staff function at their level respectively.

If you are taking up the branch of manufacturing science and engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur just because you are not eligible for getting any other branches in the same college then one thing is sure that you will end up with a minimum placement of around 7 to 9 lacs, in some of the corporate companies, IT firms that show up for the placement drive in the college. Although if manufacturing science engineering really excites you and you are passionate about the branch then you might consider pursuing the same at the college. But if you are expecting a number of high-quality core placements then you will be in for a great amount of disappointment that the college being an Indian Institute of Technology fails to provide with good core placements in the field. But if you want to increase your prospects of getting want to increase your prospects of getting placed inner core manufacturing science company then you must consider doing your Masters from overseas. The internship and placement trends at IIT, Kharagpur have shown that the adaptability in curriculum makes the students fit into any sector such as core engineering, IT, Finance, Analytics, Consulting et al. It does not matter which discipline you study, you may make a successful in-road to placement. KGP students are universally agreeable to take up challenges in any of the sectors because of the versatility in the curriculum. That's the reason recruiters prefer IIT Kharagpur. The placements at IIT, Kharagpur are very good given you are a sincere student. In manufacturing science and engineering, core placement choices are very much wide but they are good. As it is not one of the core branches, we cannot call the placement best. The average package is about 8 LPA, strictly note that it is in core jobs. In IT and software, people bag up to 40 LPA packages. Around 81% students get placed.
