How are the placements of B.Tech in Marine Engineering from C.V. Raman College of Engineering?

Raman College of Engineering is one of the best private colleges of Bhubaneswar, and it is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology and it is approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC. It is a college which offers many courses out of which marine engineering is one of the course and it offers 60 seats to the students. C. V. Raman College of Engineering is known for its infrastructure and facilities provided by them like wi-fi sports complex and labs with better equipment and machines. Faculty of C. V. Raman College of engineering is about average as the faculty does not have much.

Raman College of Engineering is known for its infrastructure and facilities provided by them like wi-fi sports complex and labs with better equipment and machines. Faculty of C.V. Raman college of engineering is about average as the faculty does not have much experience in teaching. The college believes in hands-on experience which helps the students of marine engineering to get better placement. There are many companies that come for the placement in for marine engineering and they are as follows:- Accenture, Apollo Tyres, Aricent, BGR Energy, Ceat Limited, Cognizant, Essar Cellular, IBM, Infosys, JK Tyres, L T Finance, Mahindra Satyam, OCL India Ltd., RSB, Syntel, Tata Steel, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Zensar Technologies. These are some companies that come for the placements frequently every year. Most of the students of marine engineering get placed in the mass recruiter IT companies like Wipro, TCS Infosys, etc. and the average salary provided by these companies is about Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 4 lakh per annum. CV Raman College of Engineering is an above average Tier 2 college which has managed to get almost 90% of the total batch of marine engineering student placed in 2017. Out of 134 students that got placed, 35% of the same got placed in the reputed mass recruiters like Infosys, TCS and Wipro leaving them no choice but to make a complete waste of the marine engineering degree. One can expect a 50% chance of getting into a decent Marine Engineering company. Tolani Shipping Company, Shipping Corporation of India, United Ocean Ship Management, Orient Express Ship Management, Synergy Maritime, Ocean sparkle, Executive Ship Management, Fleet Ship Management and Five Star Shipping are some of the decent paying companies that visited the college during the placement season of maritime batch 2017. With this, one can expect the average placement package of around 6 to 7 LPA and with the highest package placement of 22 LPA for maritime engineers in the college. I hope this answers your question. Placements in CVRCE marine branch is quite good. They are trained both physically and mentally to overcome the challanges to be faced by a marine engineer in TS Ranjita. Companies like shipping Corporation of India, Docendale, Apj Shipping, Abs Marine, Accord Ship, Bernhard Ship Management, B B, Executive Ship Management, Essar, Dycon Tankers, F Five-Star Shipping, Gulf Energy, Fleet Managment and Personnel, Gulf Maritime Service, IMC, Indian Steamship, Mercater, Ocean Sparkle, Smason Maritime Limited, Seachange Maritime Singapore, Trans Ship Service, United Ocean Ship Management, etc. These are some if the companies that visit owe campus for placement.

Placement in this college is for those students who truly deserve it. The students having very low CGPA shouldn't think about placement. The best students are selected in the campus placement but as it is a reputed college in Odisha, most of the students get placements on the campus or off the campus. The college shows 100% placement on its website or brochure but the real placement is around 50-60%. Many IT companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro visits the campus for placements. This year, they hired approx. 267 eligible candidates but if you want placements in core companies, there are very low chances that you will get placed because very few core companies visits the campus. You can apply for off-campus placements. Many students this year get placed in the core companies by off campus interviews. The number of recruiting companies has increased since the last 2 years. However, there lies very less chance of placement if you are from branches like mechanical engineering, chemical engineering etc. with an average grade point of about 8.0. Most of the placements are from the software and electronic related branches like computer science, information technology and ETC. Even the good students from my branch I.e., from mechanical engineering have been placed in software companies while the placements in core companies remain very poor.
