    Hello,
    Materials science is a fascinating field which has no end because of the variety of problems that keep on coming, but there are various challenges that you might face. Materials science requires a good understanding of the concepts of all fields of science. This causes it to face a tough challenge from people of core physics, chemistry or engineering background. It is difficult to master everything as you can understand. For the same reason, many companies, which require material engineers equally, may sometimes prefer a person from a core engineering background. Very few people ever go into the core in metallurgy.     The placement trend in B.Tech in materials science and engineering in IIT-Kanpur is clean and amazing. Though, Materials Science and Engineering is not one of the core branches but day by day more companies are opening their gates for the people. They are the industry people anyway.
