Indian Institute of Technology located in Delhi is one of the best government colleges of India. IIT-Delhi ranks in top 3 in the list of top colleges of India. Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi offers many courses out of which mechanical engineering is one of the courses which offers about 70 seats to students. IIT-Delhi is known for its great infrastructure and faculty members with 5 to 10 years of experience and they are very knowledgeable and facilities like Wi-Fi, Sports Complex and labs with better equipment and machines. It provides the most needed thing i.e hands-on experience of the machines, cars, engines, etc., to gain more theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge. It provides funds and many industrial visits to mechanical engineering students and students can take part in the competition related to mechanical engineering. About 90% of students of mechanical engineering were placed during the placements. The companies like Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Maruti, ITC, etc., recruit students. Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branches, also one of the evergreen disciplines. There are ample job opportunities in the field if you are passionate and hardworking enough. Nowadays the scope of mechanical engineering is expanding beyond its traditional boundaries and is more of inter-disciplinary in nature. The pay profile in core mechanical jobs is lower than CSE and some others but this is no comparison. Branch should be taken on basis of interest. Money should not be the motivation. And with all this, IIT-Delhi is one of the best institutes of our country. The placements in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Delhi are better than any other college. Around 76% students get their desired jobs. But the inclination towards core sector is declining as software and finance companies pay higher than the core recruiters. The highest package is around 40 LPA. Some of the recruiters are SAIL, BHEL, BEL, ONGC, Essar, L&T, Thermax, Godrej, etc. So, the placements at IIT, Delhi are very good and one should choose the course if he/she can.

Hello, the average package is between Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs (optimistically) in any branch at IIT, Delhi. Average package of a B.Tech student fetching mechanical core job is around Rs 8 lakhs per annum. Please note that there are only few core companies which allow all B.Tech + M.Tech dual degree students together. In such cases, normally salary is more for M.Tech dual than B.Tech. The packages for B.Tech are generally found on the higher side, which can be approximately Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs per annum. Maximum salary, i.e. 70 lakhs per annum is limited to very few companies like Schlumberger. But please note there are only a couple of companies which offer you such handsome packages, otherwise you can not expect very high salary being in mechanical core companies, unlike IT/CSE core jobs. Companies like GE, GM, EATON etc do not allow B.Techs but only MS/M.Tech/Dual. I guess GE offered Rs 8.5 lakhs per annum, GM offered approximately Rs 7 lakhs per annum and Eaton around Rs 9 lakhs per annum. AIRBUS offers around Rs 12 lakhs per annum to Rs 15 lakhs per annum, but select only a couple of M.Techs or MS. Hero, Honda recruits all B.Techs and offered a package of Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 7.5 lakhs per annum and M.Tech/Duals Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 9 lakhs per annum. Hope this helps! All the Best!
