IIT Guwahati is a good engineering college, but I don't know about the placements. Being LPU alumni I would recommend B.Tech Mechanical from LPU, I am sharing my friend review regarding this course, His experience at LPU was amazing, Currently he is working with XL Dynamics with decent package. As a general rule for placements, a lot more will depend upon your own hard work, communication & presentation skills and overall preparation. This would be true for any university you enroll in. Mechanical Engineering student goes through an experiential learning process surrounded by high-end the latest labs and equipment including robotic

The placements in the IIT, Guwahati for mechanical varies from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs per annum. Though the above stats may vary from different to different corporates which can be distinguished as global and domestic.
Apart from placement, IIT Guwahati serves well in the respective field but still needs to improve its scope and efficiency in comparison to other IITs.
