Greetings from Shiksha. Mechanical Engineering is very good and an evergreen field. Talking about the placements of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, it is almost 100% as seen every year. The average package of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Roorkee is around 7 to 9 lakhs per annum. Many Multinational Companies visit here and offers the good packages to Mechanical Engineers. Companies like Bosch Group, Reliance Industries, Welspun, Larsen and Toubro, Tata Steel, Adani Group, Aditya Birla Group Arcelor Mittal, HPCL, NTPC, ONGC, Tata motors, Tech Mahindra, Ford, General motors, etc. Since mechanical engineering branch is the best and evergreen, the placement ratio of mechanical branch will also increase in future with good amount of packages by the companies. Talking about the IITs, all IITs placement ratio will also increase or the packages will increase because IITs are the top most Engineering Institute worldwide. So, many companies will take part in campus placement at IITs for quality engineers. Thus, the placements at IIT Kanpur are really very good. In future Mechanical Engineers will get more employments and offer of good salaries due to Growth In Industrialization.

Before diving into stats and data, we should know some things. Mechanical engineering is a core branch and it is called 'evergreen' for a reason. It never goes out of trend. Core branches have an edge over other ones. There is an ample number of career options for aspiring mechanical engineers. Almost every company that designs and produces a product contracts a mechanical engineer. But mechanical engineers can also be found in research labs, the military, government, and in other professions such as management, finance. Mechanical Engineers are demanded in the automobile, biomedical, cement, chemical, mining and metallurgy, nuclear, power plant, robotics, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industries. Mechanical engineers can find employment at virtually any institute where innovation takes place. Around 87% students get placed out of the registered ones. The average package is approximately 12 lacs per annum.

The B.Tech mechanical from IIT kanpur is the most reliable and core branch when compared to all IIts after IIT kharagpur and Madras . The placement scenarion is too non varying and consisting since its establishment and start of the 21st century . Though the most highest placement can be recorded from the cse and aerospace department which is working effortlessly to become and be remarkable . The fact should not be ignored that the evergreen mechanical stream finds its scope in all perspective whether it is cse , ec , automobiles and some touch of IT . Statics is as follows the average placement goes from 14 lakh per annum and the highest is around 35 to 50 lakhs depending upon the location and need of the company post . The department of mechanical is focussing on most field appnlication rather than the academic theory though , it produce quality engineers when it comes to knowledge perspective . At last all the IIts work very hard and effortlessly and though all the branches taught in them are the best in class , still some are exceptionally well compared to others and in that ii kanpur stans top when it comes to cse aerospace and mechanical . Hello, mechanical engineering has always been a highly demanded branch across the globe and that too if you have an undergraduate degree from IIT Kanpur, well, it's commendable. Coming to the placements, overall at the end of the year, more than 90% got placed out of those who appeared for the placements. Mechanical engineers do not generally start high on packages (when compared to computer science and earth sciences like petroleum and mining). They manage to get Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs per annum on an average. Some may go little above it and some may even be below (totally depends on your GPA, internships, and other experiences you gained in IIT). After CSE and EE, I think ME comes next in terms of placement but the difference is not very large. Packages don't depend on the branch, they depend on what you make of yourself in these 4 years. Even a CSE guy would end up not getting placed if he has not worked hard enough on his knowledge and skills and a civil guy could end up getting Rs 80 to 90 lakhs package.
