How are the placements of B.Tech in Production and Industrial Engineering from IIT, Delhi?

Production and Industrial Engineering is not much different From Mechanical Engineering.It's Just that production and Industrial almost completely ignores the (Thermal Engineering) part which is Included In Mechanical Engineering It Focusses mainly on Manufacturing And Management Related Courses. Different Companies Have Their Different Eligibility Criteria Either on CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average) Or Branch. Delhi Is among the topmost institutes to provide an average package ranging from 7.5-10 lacs PA for production and industrial development. Hello, Production and Industrial Engineering is one of emerging courses in terms of placement and if one pursues this particular course from one of the best institutes of the country, like IIT Delhi it is like icing on a piece of cake. As far as the placements are concerned, there are many Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies that come to recruit students on campus. Although, the eligibility criteria on CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or branch depends on the company . Companies provide an average package of Rs 10 lakhs to the students of production and industrial engineering. Top companies include Tata, GM, CAT, TVS, Geometric, Shell, Fluent, Ashok Leyland, Hero, Bosch, Honda, John Deere, Mercedes Benz, etc. Also according to the placement statistics of IIT Delhi, out of 42 students who appeared for recruitment process from production and industrial engineering branch, 34 of them got placed with the highest salary package being Rs 21 lakhs and an average package of around Rs 11.4 lakhs (2014-15). Production and Industrial Engineering is a very good field of engineering and IIT-Delhi is among the top IITs. Talking about the placements of PI Engineering at IIT-Delhi, it is almost 100%. The average package of PI Engineering at IIT-Delhi is around 6 to 9 LPA. Many multinational companies visit here and offer a good package to quality engineers. Companies like Reliance Industries, PepsiCo, Glenmark, Wipro, Asian Paints, Sun pharma, Dr.Reddy's, Zydus Wellness, Cadila Pharma, Adani Group, HPCL, BPCL, Lodha Group, Paytm, Ashok Leyland, Tata, GM, CAT, TVS, Geometric, Shell, Fluent, Ashok Leyland, Hero Moto Corp, Bosch group, Honda and Mercedes recruit students. Since PI Branch is an evergreen branch, the placement ratio of PI branch will also increase in future with a good amount of packages by the companies. Talking about the IITs, all IITs placement ratio will also increase or the packages will increase because IITs are the topmost engineering institutes worldwide, so many companies will take part in campus placement at IITs for quality engineers. So, the placement ratio of production and Industrial engineering branch of IIT-Delhi is almost 100% and will remain like with better packages. Many large scale industries require a good amount of production and industrial engineering in their companies and they are offering very good amount to these engineers.

IIT, Delhi has been critically acclaimed across borders with its renowned alumni holding international positions. One can call it the best engineering institute in the country, it would be no lie. The foundation stone of IIT Delhi was laid in 1959 with the collaboration of UK Government and the Federation of British Industries in London. All this is not just dry praise, all this makes it the first choice of recruiters for engineers. Production and industrial engineering is not a core branch but it is very much similar to Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering course is just more diverse whereas Industrial Engineering focuses on Industry and Production Processes. Taking a look at the Placement Report of IIT Delhi which is available on the website, I found out some data. Out of the total students, 70% get placed, not all in core jobs though. The highest package is about 13 LPA, I'm talking about core recruiters here. So, it provides you good enough job opportunities in the sector.
