Although only 55% students got placed which is very average, hence Production Engineering is not recommended for COE Pune. COEP is among the best institutes for engineering in India. Perhaps it is not so impressive interms of the placements and exposure you will get from COEP is just fairly decent.

College of Engineering, Pune is one of the best colleges in Maharashtra after IITs and NITs. According to MHRD rankings, it stands at an impressive 24th position. From what I learned while pursuing B.tech from NIT Trichy, is that COEP is known even to the people in Tamil Nadu which means it is known all over India.
For production department last year (2016-17) out of 72 students who applied for placements from 49 students were placed meaning 68.06 percent placement in the production department.

I would like to share the placement statistics of last few years. Production Engineering (Sandwich Program) department gets average placements. In the academic year 2015-16, 68.06% of the total UG students and 55.37% of the total PG students got placed. In the academic year 2013-14, 53.33% of the total UG students and 46.08% of the total PG students got placed. According to latest placements record of academic year 2016-17, 67.74% of the total UG students and 57% of the total PG students got placed.
