How are the placements of BE in Civil Engineering from TCET, Mumbai?

Thakur College of Engineering and Technology although being the least popular college in Mumbai manages to provide students with decent placement packages to support themselves. These were some of the companies that showed up for the placement drive in the year 2017 for civil engineering branch. The companies were Converteam (GE Energy), Mahindra & Mahindra, MU SIGMA, Oracle, Polaris, Hewlett-Packard (HP), TIBCO, L & T, INFOTECH, Pramati Technologies, IMRB, Amdocs, Atos Origin, MAQ Software, Milestone Interactive Software Ltd., NSE IT Persistent Systems Limited, Zycus, Hexaware, Indian air force-IAF, Indian Army and Intarvo Technology. The average placement package for civil engineering branch was around Rs 3.8 lakhs while the highest package placement offered to the students was around Rs 9 lakhs, particularly in civil department. I would recommend you to take up civil engineering in this college only if you are not left with any other better college to get admission at. I hope you do well.

Hi, Here is my review about BE in civil engineering from TCET, Mumbai based on my personal experience: The TnP Cell just doesn't care about students. All they are interested in is a fraction: Placement % = (Students placed)/(Students eligible). And, they do very little to improve the numerator, but keep looking to reduce the denominator. They find absurd reasons to disqualify students from placement process. They keep below par training programs, charge for it, make them compulsory and disqualify you if you miss even a few lectures! Didn't attend a single mock test they arranged on a Saturday for your inconvenience? Disqualified! Worst of all is their definition of dream companies keeps changing every year. Accenture and Infosys hire you in bulk irrespective of your branch and you are not even allowed to refuse to sit for a particular company! If you are from mechanical and don't sit for Infosys, you are Disqualified! You are forced to sit for every single company that arrives and if selected, you can't appear for further interviews. If you refuse, Disqualified! You are from core branch and don't want IT companies? Think Accenture and Infosys isn't good enough for you and want to wait for the other better companies to arrive? Did you breathe without TnPs permission? Disqualified! Disqualified! and Disqualified! Another outrageous policy is they threaten to refuse giving you LOR to pursue higher studies if you 1st opted for placements then decided to change your mind! Can you believe it? You have to choose placement or higher studies right from your 3rd year! Harassment and disqualifying students is top priority of TnP instead of trying to get them placed! I hope you opt for a better college than to get into all the fuss this college has to offer. All the best.
