How are the placements of BE in Geo Informatics from College of Engineering- Anna University (CEG, Guindy)?

Majority of Geo-infomatics get placed in IT sector and very few have received core branches and relevant roles, but almost 90% students get placed with average of 4lpa. Notwithstanding the withdrawal of offers by the e-commerce and software companies, Anna University got off to a bright start to its campus placement drive as three students have received offer letters for Rs 28 lakh per annum, surpassing last year's highest offer. The campus placement began last week in the university. IT majors like Microsoft, Adobe and Samsung R&D have recruited university students for pay packages of around Rs 20 lakh per annum. The new recruiter, Arcesium India from Hyderabad, a software development company, recruited three students M.Radhika, P.R. Prasad and M.Nikhil, who are all studying computer science engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy for huge package of Rs 28 lakh per annum. Last year, Code Nation, a software developer from Bengaluru offered the maximum salary of Rs 24 lakh per annum for two student. The public sector undertakings like Power Grid Corporation of India and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) usually will come for recruitment in the months of March and April.

Anna University is among the top universities in South-India, and has a really low acceptance rate, because of which only beautiful minds make it through in the college. But, the review for geo informatics in Anna University-College of Engineering is really not good in terms of placement and in terms of academics as well. Only 2 out of 20 students in 2017 batch of geo informatics got placed and that too in IT Company known as ITC, offering them something around 3-4 lacs per annum which makes it a total waste of their degree in geo informatics. Also, the total batch placement percentage is really low, that being just 10%, which is really low for a college having such a great reputation. Hence, I would recommend you not to go for any other branch in this college, but to go for computer science majors as it has much higher placement statistics in comparison, being nothing less than an average placement package of 6-7 lacs and some in core companies as well.
