How are the placements of BTech in ECE at IIT Roorkee?

<p>Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is considered as one of the oldest IITs. It's reputation is very good and placement is just awesome there. Coming to the question part, placements for electronics and communication are very good. In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 LPA and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance, analytics and consulting. The average package of under graduate course (ECE) was 15 LPA and in integrated dual degree (IDD) course was 13 LPA.</p>

Hi, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is very good Institute worldwide as far as I have heard. The placements at IIT Roorkee for Electronics and Communication Engineering are seen very best which is almost around 90% every year. The average package is around 8 to 9 lakhs at this college. ECE Engineering is among the best known branches of Engineering. Many companies take part in Placement Cell at IIT Roorkee, like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Amazon, Adani Group, Aditya Birla Group, Goldman Sachs, Google, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, OLA Cabs, Microsoft, Oracle, Raymond, Flipkart, Qualcomm, Samsung, Cognizant , Wipro, Infosys, TCS, etc. takes students from here. Many of the students are getting really very good packages in ECE Engineering Branch. Nowadays, placements of core engineering branches will increase like for Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, CSE, ECE, EEE, etc. with very good amount of packages. Especially in IITs and NITs the packages will be always better and higher than previous year because more and more companies take part in Placement Cell every year. Hope it solves your query!

Placements are very good at IITs with a good average package. Although it varies from department to department. Actually, there are a number of options available to the graduates when they pass out from B.Tech. Majority sit for the placements, some go for higher studies like MS or M.Tech, others for IES, IAS etc. But if you are concerned about the college placements, let's talk about that. IIT, Roorkee is one of the oldest IITs and also one of the oldest engineering institutes in our country. It excels in academics. It has the best faculty and this makes it attractive for recruiters. And above all, Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the IT branches, placements from IT branches are the best. There is no dubiety in that. We can look at some data if you are into statistics. 13.04 % students got placed in core jobs in the academic session 2016-17. Don't be worrisome, 85.5% are happy with their job in the software field. Yes, that's true. Also, from a batch every year, the college sees 94% placements which is a decent percentage. The average package is 16 Lac per annum, thanks to the software jobs. Some of the top recruiters are Wipro Lighting Corporate, Schneider Electric, Bajaj Electricals Ltd, Siemens, Alstom Corporate, Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd., Crompton Greaves, Havells India Limited, ABB India Limited, EMCO limited, HBM power system, etc.

IIT-Roorkee is one of the old IITs and one of the well-reputed institutes in India, so you don't have to worry about placements. Let's go through its placement report of 2016-17 for ECE engineering. The total percentage of placed students from ECE is around 87% (this is low because the calculations also include students who opted out of placements for higher studies or some other reasons. If we neglect those students it will be above 90%). Going forward, around 13% of the placed students got into core jobs which is not a good metric. Around 85.5% got into IT/Software jobs while around 1.5% got into consulting/finance jobs. The average CTC for ECE was around 16 LPA which again is a good metric. So, the placement scenario looks good for ECE in IIT-Roorkee as such. Don't join any branch or college just because of its placements. Try to find what you are passionate about and pursue that branch.
