3 months agoIndian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is considered as one of the oldest IITs. It's reputation is very good and placement is just awesome there. Coming to the question part, placements for electronics and communication are very good. In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 LPA and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance, analytics and consulting.

IIT-Roorkee is one of the old IITs and one of the well-reputed institutes in India, so you don't have to worry about placements.
Let's go through its placement report of 2016-17 for ECE engineering.
The total percentage of placed students from ECE is around 87% (this is low because the calculations also include students who opted out of placements for higher studies or some other reasons. If we neglect those students it will be above 90%).
Going forward, around 13% of the placed students got into core jobs which is not a good metric.
Around 85.5% got into IT/Software jobs while around 1.5% got into consulting/finance jobs.
