How are TOEFL Scores calculated?

<p>The four components of the TOEFL—reading, speaking, listening, and writing—are used to determine scores. Scores range from 0 to 30 for each of these categories, with a maximum score of 120. The total TOEFL score is then calculated by adding the scores for each section. Multiple-choice questions in the Reading and Listening sections test your comprehension and analysis of spoken and written English. In the Speaking portion, prompt responses are recorded and evaluated based on coherence, pronunciation, and fluency. Writing assignments, like as essays, are assessed on the basis of argument development, language, and structure. Your achievement in that particular skill is reflected in the score for each component, and the total score provides universities or other organisations with a comprehensive view of your English competence across the board. Universities decide whether candidates fulfil the necessary English proficiency levels for admission based on the TOEFL results, which are normally available 6–10 days following the test.</p>

For reading and listening, you should answer at least one question. For writing and speaking, you must attempt one task each. For the online TOEFL iBT test, the result is four-scaled along with a total score.</p><p>The overall TOEFL iBT scores are calculated by adding the scores obtained in 4 different sections of the exam namely reading, writing, listening and speaking. Candidates who have appeared for their TOEFL exam will receive four scaled section scores and a total score. Each section has a score range of 0&ndash;30. These are added together for a total score of 0&ndash;120.</p>
