How can an NRI get admission in Indian medical colleges? Do NRIs need to undergo central counselling held by MCC of DGHS?

For private medical colleges, is it required for an NRI student to apply to each institute individually for a seat through individual NRI quota? Is it possible for an NRI student to get admission under general quota in these private institutes? What is the process?

NRI students are allowed for attending counselling under 15% All India Quota. However they have to go through the State Round of counselling for other universities. Admission for NRI seats varies depending on state.
