Candidates can join Mailam Engineering College through the following steps based on whether they are applying for undergraduate (B.E/B.Tech) or postgraduate courses (M.E/M.Tech). Here's a common scenario for both :-
1. For B.E/B.Tech Admission (Undergraduate):
Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification: “The candidates arriving to apply for B.E. /B Technology courses should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.”
Minimum Marks: The candidates must also satisfy the minimum percentage requirements laid down by the institution in most cases fifty percent general category students and a lower percentage for other categories.
Entrance Exam: Admission might be on the based of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) which calculates admission on the individual's performance in 12th or a certain percentage obtained in other entrance examinations of national or state levels.
The admission process shall be as follows:
Apply through TNEA (for Tamil Nadu candidates):
Applicants are required to apply for TNEA which is conducted by Anna University.
Complete the application form on the website, provide the required documents (mark sheets, photograph, etc.), and make payment for the application.
A rank will be assigned to you in accordance to your mark of the 12th grade.
Counseling:
After the application form filling has been completed, students are called for counseling on the basis of their TNEA rank.
In the counseling, candidates would be allotted branch seats as per their choice and as per their rank if any branches are available.
Direct admission:

Post Seat allotment (through counseling or direct admission) the candidates would also have to pay for the admission fees and other necessary documents required for the completion of the admission process has to be provided.
2. For M.E./M.Tech Admission (Postgraduate):
Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification: Must possess a Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology or any other equivalent degree (B.E/B.Tech.)
Minimum Marks: A minimum of 50% (as may be specified by the college) in the bachelor's degree.
Admission Process:
Entrance Examination: It is mandatory for candidates to have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score or any specific entrance test of the college if applicable.
Application Procedure: Log on to the website of the college, complete the online application by providing academic and personal information. Attach the requested documents and remit the application registration fee.
Shortlisting and Counseling:
On the basis of the entrance examination score (GATE or other examinations), candidates are shortlisted.
