How can I become a DOP (Director Of Photography) and how is it as a career?

I'm a student of class12th & want to become a DOP for motion pictures. How can I get there? Can you explain the whole process (education, degree)? Can I make a good living out of it? What kind of jobs and how much salary will I get after completing my education?

    A cinematographer is also known as the director of photography. He is responsible for filming a movie or TV programme. He uses many different technical devices for ensuring perfection in the shots, color, framing, exposure and lighting. His work is to set the artistic tone of the film.
