There are various event management firms that from time to time hire people with mass comm backgrounds as volunteers for their events.
You could find these links of these firms online or on facebook groups.
Wherein, you would be given certain stipend and certificates too.

There is a group called 'Media Jobs For all'. You can join that group and there, you can find many opportunities with regard to events.
