How can I become a marine engineer?

Marine engineers are skilled individuals involved in the design, construction and maintenance of vehicles and structures used on or around water. Marine engineering technology and techniques are used to create cruise ships, oil platforms and harbours. Education required: B.E/B.Tech Marine Engineering In the case of regular B.E./B.Tech. The program, the course duration is of 4 years. On the other hand, students making use of the lateral entry could get admission in 2nd year, directly. So, for them, the course duration is of 3 years. Eligibility: 10+2 Science stream schooling is required. Also, it should include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. Age of the candidate should be within 17-25 years of age. In the case of lateral entry, there is no lower age limit and the upper limit is 25 years. Apart from educational qualifications and age limit, medical standards are also taken into consideration. Candidates should not be colour blind or night-blind. Unaided vision in each eye should be 6/12. Also, health checkups are held to check whether the candidate is qualified to face seafaring roles. Starting salary may differ, depending on` a number of factors such as- profile of the employer, quality of the institute from which the course has been pursued, Grades attained in training program etc. Generally, the starting salary is between 40-60k Rupees per month.
