You can become a scientist in the field of science & technology by following paths (a) M.Sc Ph.D (b) B.Tech Ph.D (c) M.Tech Ph.D. Some government R&D org such as DRDO, CSIR, ISRO, BARC etc. also hire graduate engineers or postgraduate in science for the post of scientists.
