To be a sound engineer, one needs to do a certified sound engineering courses. Many music institutes offer this kind of certified courses. There are diploma courses, which is maximum for one year and minimum for six months. After completing the course and getting the certificate you need to work as intern, it helps to learn the work thoroughly, after getting a couple of experience you should opt for a job. Starting salary would be 15-20 thousand minimum (according to the skills the person has, the amount might less also). Later if the person is seen to be able to do well in this the salary can be increased to much higher. Good luck.
