To become an engineer you need to either pursue B.Tech after PUC (science) or you can also pursue B.Tech after Diploma on the basis of class 10th score.

You can do Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, etc. Or pursue a BE/B.Tech degree. You can pursue BE/B.Tech after Diploma too. Engineer is the professional title so you will need to be an engineering profession.
