Yes, most students giving CPT will have approximately 6 months only. Practice well from TS Grewal till you are in 12th. This will build your basics. After board exams, start with the basic modules that come along with the enrollment. Past papers is a must. People tend to ignore ICAI material but I think ICAI material is sufficient enough for a good preparation. You'll feel pressure in between but keep giving your best and practice every day. Identify your weak areas and focus more on those areas. Since most of the topics will be familiar, you'll be able to cover the course faster. Lastly, there is only one mantra when it comes to CA exams or for that matter any exam. Keep calm and work hard!

Six months is pretty adequate time to crack CPT with a good score. But to crack CPT one should know the basics of the subjects. If you are a commerce background student then you will be having the knowledge of economics and accounts so you can do well in those subjects but if you are not you really have to prepare a lot of things. Make your daily schedule and study according to that, time management is most important. Study the books provided by ICAI those will be more than enough, but study them very well. And try to solve the whole book of sample papers by ICAI. Do not just randomly start any paper, set the timer in stopwatch and solve according to that. Do not leave any chapter in any book because questions from every chapter will come. Quant and accounts are the most time-consuming sections so prepare accordingly.

As you have 6 months of time it is enough if the time is spent efficiently and with the right amount of efforts. The following are some of the preparation tips 1) You need to score at least 30% in all subjects. So, you need to concentrate on all subjects to qualify the basics. 2) In CA exam, the accounting skills are very important. If you are clear with the basics of accounting then your chances of clearing the examination would be high. So take more practice on accounting as well as the theory part too. 3) Another important prospect for CPT is the mercantile law. After accounts, it is referred to as the most scoring subject. Again, practice and learn the contract act as well. 4) Economics as a whole is an easy scoring when compared to other subjects. Among, other chapters, Macro Economics has more weightage and so make sure that you give more importance to it. 5) In mathematics and statistics, not all topics are the same. There are some easier topics like the ones learned during your school days. Try to complete differentiation and integration, correlation and regression and theoretical distribution as these are important. 6)Most importantly, attempt only questions that you are sure and confident. 7)Study with planning. Don't rapidly and hastily study anything. Practice more question papers as you have a lot of time and concentrate more on the previous year papers. Take care of your health and so you can prepare more actively. Have a good sleep and a balanced diet.
