Tips and hacks to crack IRMA: A- Be clear of the examination pattern: The total duration of the exam is 1 hour and 20 minutes. In Issues of Social Concern test, a total of 40 questions is asked. Only objective type questions are asked in the exam. Every question has five options and the candidates must select the right one. Marking: 1, -0.25. B- Current affairs: Candidates must regularly read newspapers, magazines to stay updated. C- Focus more on National events and news. D- Inculcate reading habit. E- Solve previous year questions as per time frame guidelines of actual exam. This will give you a look and feel of actual exam. F- Study plan: Give more time to the topics which a candidate feels is difficult provided the preparation time of one year.

Keep a track of current events- When it comes to devising preparation strategy, current affairs should be the first priority for candidates. Candidates must regularly read newspapers, magazines to stay updated on current happenings on social issues. Focus more on national events- An analysis of previous year question papers that most of the questions asked are based on national affairs. Only a few questions are based on international events. Also, the questions based on international affairs are comparatively easier. Therefore, while preparing, candidates are advised to focus more on national events. However, international events should not be completely overlooked. Reading- Developing a habit of reading is of great importance. Candidates can start with reading articles in newspaper and magazines and later move on to columns, editorials and non-fiction books. Moreover, candidates need read about various social schemes launched by the government from time to time. Having knowledge and understanding of these schemes is crucial to achieving success in this exam. Keep notes- Keeping notes will make it easier for candidates to revise and memorize the information. A lot of things are going on across the world and remembering everything can prove to be a difficult task. Writing notes will prove to be very useful. Study Plan- Candidates should create a study plan. While most candidates understand the importance of creating a plan, they often end up creating a plan which is not practical or very difficult to execute. This should be avoided. Also, while creating a study plan, the candidates must give more time to the topics that they find difficult.

For a serious civil servant aspirant with an engineering background, IRMA entrance exam would not be that tough. Give CAT for IRMA, CAT is just an eligibility. Scoring high in CAT increases the probability of your conversion. Any percentile above 80 makes you a good candidate adding the fact that you score well in ISC exam. Out of 40 anything above 25 is good enough. With UPSC based knowledge it would be easier for you to get that score. UPSC doesn't ask data based questions, but in ISC there are few questions which are data specific and you should remember the same. books of preparation For ISC, read Pratiyogita Darpan Indian Economy Edition. It's not detailed but I believe it should do. For IRMA GDPI, no specific preparation is needed other than having some awareness on current issues
