You need to be good in Java to create apps. If you want to learn game development then you should do 2D or 3D and game engine because every game engine has its particular language. Some game engines use Python and some use C#. So, choose wisely based upon your interest in the programming language. -

You can create apps by learning Java Programming Language and Android Studio (Official Android's IDE by Google). And games by learning C# Programming Language and Unity (One of the best IDE's for Game Development). Remember that these development processes takes time and dedication.
