Success in the interior designing field is based on your aesthetic sense, knowledge of current and trendy products in the market and excellent presentation skills (both sketching and oral) in order to convey your ideas effectively to the client. In my experience, no courses are "taught" that successfully in Indian universities so I personally consider it a waste of time. If you are really interested in pursuing ID as a career then I suggest you intern under a good designer and learn the skills. Knowledge of software such as Autocad, Photoshop is a must but I assume you learned that in your B.Tech course anyway.
